The NOEL GIBSON
Single Owner Collecton of Antique Walking Sticks
This personal collection was formed by Noel Gibson in the 1970's and 1980's. Although based in the North West, Noel is well known in the London Trade in the Portobello Road as Eureka Antiques and also at olympia where he frequently exhiited and was also a member of the vetting committe.
He has particularly specialised in victorian Tartanware.
The collection was first featured on television as early as 1972 and later, around the 1990's, was shown widely in the UK in a travelling exhibition curated by Salford Museum and Art Gallery.
The walking sticks have been in store for around 30 years. Large numbers of sticks still remain packed away but those shown give some idea of the quality on offer. Other examples include parasols, sword sticks and many with novelty finilas including a nutmeg grater and a Chinaman scent spray; there are perhaps 400 sticks in all
The collection will be sold without reserve.
